Every time I go to Disney World it’s the same thing. I start out with great intentions – “This will be a three-part trip report blog post, with helpful hints about how to do Disney on your own/as a newlywed/while pregnant/with a baby!” This degenerates into “I’ll do lots of Tweets from the parks with pictures and compile them into a nano-blog!” when I first arrive. By the end of the first day though, I’ve fallen into a no-internet black hole.
I just get too excited to be there. I can’t stop and take notes when there are places to explore, people to meet (and by people I mean “characters”) and most importantly food to eat! I never remember to take a food pic before diving in. I always take advantage of Photopass, because if I don’t, I’ll have zero pictures of the trip due to my totally forgetting to pull out my camera. At all. I’m just too busy.
However, this was our first trip bringing our baby girl – for her first birthday. We knew ahead of time that this was going to bring some changes with it. Gone are the days of going to three parks in one day with no break, for example. Gone too are the 3-hour fancy dinners, waiting in line for 2 hours just to see how the standard line compared to the fastpass (yup, we were strange like that), and we’ll just leave Hall of Presidents right out.
It also meant that we were planning – planning – to take afternoon breaks. That’s right, giving up time in the parks of our own volition, and not just because our bodies gave out on us. Crazy.
But the extra down time did give me the ability to do something I didn’t expect – take notes. While my baby (and let’s face it, hubby too) was napping, I jotted down what we had done that day, tips we had picked up and anything else I thought was interesting. So now as I’m sitting down to write a blog post I have what I never have really had before after a Disney trip: material.
So the next few posts are going to be my trip report for this last trip. We were in Disney World from Nov. 12-16, stayed at Caribbean Beach on property (in a pirate room), visited all four parks, the Very Merry Christmas Party and the Osbourne Lights, and brought my one-year-old daughter for her first time ever. (well, since she’s been born anyway)
We not only lived to tell the tale, but it was an excellent trip and we learned a ton. We thought we knew Disney, but it’s a whole new experience going with a small child. A good one! Ok, mostly good. :)
Next post, Day One…

Hm. This post helps me better understand the Disney trip I took with you.
